Town launches new online dog licensing system

by | Jan 10, 2022 | News

The town announced this month that dog licenses now may be renewed online. Owners can visit permiteyes.us/hopkinton/publichome.php to search for their dog. Owners with dogs that have been registered previously will receive an email reminder that includes the link. New dog owners can visit the link and click on the “Apply for a new permit” button in the top right corner of the page.

“We look forward to this new system increasing ease and accessibility for our residents when it comes to licensing their dogs,” Town Clerk Connor Degan said. “This streamlined process will make it easier for residents to stay in compliance while allowing us to do more to keep them informed of the deadlines.”

Owners must provide their contact information, property information, dog and veterinary information, including evidence of the pet being neutered or spayed along with a rabies vaccination certificate.

All dog owners in Hopkinton must obtain a license for dogs six months and older on or before April 1 each year. The fee for licensing spayed or neutered dogs is $10. The fee for dogs that are not spayed or neutered is $15. If a dog is not licensed on or before April 1, a late fee of $25 per household is added. Kennel licenses also are available through the online system.

“We are excited to be launching this new system for dog owners to utilize during the annual licensing period,” Director of Information Technology Josh Grossetti said. “The entire renewal and registration process can now be conveniently completed online, which will greatly simplify the licensing process.”
