Baypath gets boost from VCA hospitals donation
A recent fundraising campaign organized by VCA Animal Hospitals in Central Massachusetts and Boston raised more than $1,700 for Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton, enabling Baypath to continue to provide medical care to pets in need.
VCA Animal Hospitals, the nation’s largest animal hospital network, and its nonprofit partner organization, VCA Charities, together raised more than $570,000 nationally to support regionally selected companion animal welfare organizations in the annual company-wide Pennies for Pets campaign.
From April to June, seven VCA hospitals in the region collected donations by encouraging clients to round up their transaction amounts to the nearest dollar or donate online. That resulted in a donation of $1,704.02 to Baypath.
“VCA Animal Hospitals and VCA Charities have been such supportive partners, enabling us to care for and find loving homes for so many more dogs and cats,” said Baypath Humane Society executive director Elizabeth Jefferis. “We’re honored to have the strong support of the VCA family. They have been by our side in so many ways, from enabling us to perform low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to providing financial support for our companion animals. These funds make all the difference, particularly for pets with special medical needs.”
Baypath also announced that it will again present a fall lecture series, following last year’s series that drew 240 participants.
Certified humane education specialist Rachel Geller will present a lecture on cat behavior problems on Sept. 14 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Hopkinton Public Library. Boston West veterinary criticalist Dr. Adrienne Felix will present a lecture on pet CPR on Sept. 28 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Boston West Veterinary in Natick. Certified professional dog trainer Deb Jacobs will address how to help fearful and shy dogs on Oct. 6 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Hopkinton Public Library.
