Joe Carrazza ripped a run-scoring single down the right field line in the ninth inning to give the Hopkinton High School baseball team a 1-0 walkoff victory over Norwood on Wednesday night in the Division 2 state tournament.

The sixth-seeded Hillers advance to the quarterfinal round and will play third-seeded Mansfield on Saturday at noon at East Street Field in Mansfield.

Wednesday’s game was a pitcher’s duel between Hopkinton’s Andrew Gaughan and Norwood’s Jack Cropper, who both pitched outstanding until giving way to relievers late in the game. Gaughan lasted 6 2/3 innings, and Nick Paharik pitched the final 2 1/3 for HHS. In the ninth, Hopkinton put two runners on base before Carrazza came up with his clutch hit that scored Joe Scardino well ahead of the throw. …

Boys tennis advanced to the Division 2 quarterfinals with a 4-1 victory over Wakefield on Wednesday. Lex Kaye won his match at first singles, 6-0. 6-4. Pranav Kapur won at third singles, 6-1, 6-4. Spencer Smith and Rishit Shekhar pulled out an exciting win at first doubles, 6-3, 5-7, 10-8. At second doubles, TJ Weeden and Andrew Palacios cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 decision.

The Hillers will face Duxbury in the quarterfinals on either Friday or Saturday. …

Girls tennis, the No. 5 seed in Division 2, hosted North Attleboro on Tuesday and walked away with a 5-0 victory. Singles matches were won by Paula Sendele (6-0, 6-1), Riley Krattenmaker (6-2, 6-1) and Victoria Allen (6-0, 6-3). Hailey Kessler and Romy Zinman won at first doubles, 6-0, 6-2, while Evanya Mathur and Aarushi Kamra triumphed at second doubles, 6-3, 6-1.

The Hillers will host Westwood on Friday at 3:30 p.m. …

Boys lacrosse saw its season come to an end on Wednesday with a 15-3 loss to host Marblehead. The Hillers, the No. 23 seed in Division 2, did not score their first goal until there was 85 seconds remaining in the third quarter. At that point, Marblehead, the 10th seed, already had 11 goals. Owen MacDonald scored two of the Hopkinton goals.
