Main Street Corridor Project update: Paving continues from Fire Station toward Wood Street

by | Jul 17, 2022 | News

The Main Street Corridor Project’s schedule for this week features the start of the second of three layers of pavement from the western project limit at the Wood Street intersection to the Fire Station.

Workers also will continue the service connections between the Fire Station and the Route 85/Route 135 intersection; complete the traffic signal at the Wood Street intersection with Main Street; reset frame and covers from manholes, water boxes and catch basins between Wood Street and the Fire Station; line stripe the new pavement between Wood Street and the Fire Station; and strip and grade sidewalks between Wood Street and the Fire Station.

On the east side of the project, contractors will work on duct banks for Verizon and Comcast near the 135/85 intersection, which will require a detour for eastbound traffic from Pleasant Street to Maple Street to Hayden Rowe and back to Main Street; start service connections between the 135/85 intersection and Church Street; and complete the historic walls at 15, 17, 25 and 35 Main Street.

At the 135/85 intersection, workers will widen the west side of Cedar Street and Grove Street at the intersection for initial sidewalk relocation; relocate the fire hydrant at the corner of 135/85; and backfill the concrete retaining wall at CVS.

This schedule may change due to weather and existing conditions found while performing the planned tasks. For the most up-to-date information, visit the town’s project website at hopkintonmainstreet.com.
