Main Street Corridor Project update: Possible detours in center of town this week

by | Jul 31, 2022 | News

As part of the Main Street Corridor Project this week, crews will work on Verizon and Comcast duct banks at Grove Street and Cedar Street. Detours will be utilized as needed. Walcott Street will be opened to two-way traffic during detour hours to enable entrance from Cedar Street.

Additionally, there will be underground service work to property lines in the areas between 25 Main Street and the Route 85/Route 135 intersection.

Workers will continue the service connections project-wide.

On the west side of the project, starting Monday (Aug. 1), Dagle Electrical will be on site to activate the signals at the Main Street/Wood Street intersection.

Markings, Inc. will paint the “Do not block” box in front of Meserve Street on Tuesday night and move the stop bar at the Main Street/Wood Street intersection west (past the driveway at 1 West Main Street). Work is estimated to be completed in no more than two hours with no noise disruption.

Crews will install a new granite curb at West Main and Wood Street. A detour will be utilized as needed.

Workers also will continue to strip and grade sidewalks from Wood Street toward the Fire Station

This schedule may change due to weather and existing conditions found while performing the planned tasks. For the most up-to-date information, visit the town’s project website at hopkintonmainstreet.com.
