Youth & Family Services offers programs this month

by | Nov 1, 2022 | News

Hopkinton Youth & Family Services is offering three upcoming programs: drop-in hours at the library, a LISTEN workshop and a suicide survivor film screening for the community.

The suicide survivor film, which will be presented Thursday, Nov. 3, from 7-9 p.m. at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, tells the story of a 16-year-old varsity cheerleader whose suicide attempt left her paralyzed but propelled her on a mission to user her painful experience to help others find hope and stay alive. The 90-minute film will be followed by a 30-minute talkback. This program is for adults and teens ages 14 and older, attending with a trusted adult. Registration is required. For more information, email srandall@hopkintonma.gov.

The 90-minute LISTEN workshop provides tools to help all people understand how to show up, connect and actively listen to the people in their lives who might be struggling, and then to provide a framework for what to do when more support is needed. The virtual training program will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., followed by a question and answer session until 1 p.m. The Zoom link is us06web.zoom.us/j/81728263329?pwd=NHdBci94NVRIQTVvOERHZ2tUdnordz09. For more information, call 508-497-9781.

Library drop-in hours are being held on Wednesdays from 2-4:30 p.m. at the Hopkinton Public Library through Nov. 30. All are welcome, and no appointment is required.
