Hopkinton Today: Thursday, Aug. 24

by | Aug 24, 2023 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

The Elementary School Building Committee voted 6-0 on Tuesday to approve a budget not to exceed $158,427,494 for a proposed Elmwood School replacement. Later Tuesday evening, the School Committee voted to endorse the ESBC’s decision with a vote of 5-0. This total will be voted on in early November by Town Meeting and by residents on a ballot question for a debt exclusion.

This week’s Police Log includes one arrest along with reports of a home break-in, a suspicious late-night gathering of 40-plus cars in a company parking lot, and paintballs fired at a moving car.

“The Day After Yesterday: Portraits of Dementia” delves into multifaceted aspects of dementia, including physical, emotional, community and health care issues. The free exhibition can be viewed at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts’ Lotvin Family Gallery from Aug. 29-Sept. 29.

Town meetings tonight include the Community Preservation Committee (7).
