Hopkinton PolyArts receives state grant as it prepares for annual festival Saturday

by | Sep 5, 2023 | Featured

Hopkinton PolyArts, which is hosting its annual festival this Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Town Common, announced that it has received a grant of $2,500 from the Mass Cultural Council through its Festivals and Projects Program.

The grant from the state agency recognizes that PolyArts provides significant public value through its programs and services, the organization announced in a press release. PolyArts was started in 1974 by a group of local artisans and has grown into a highly anticipated annual community celebration.

PolyArts is a juried arts fair featuring more than 65 talented local and regional artisans. Dozens of local nonprofits, town committees and community groups are represented as well and offer an opportunity for residents to connect with new groups, programs and services. In recent years, food trucks have added to the variety of cuisine available. Local musical artists perform all day to entertain the crowd.

Funds raised through booth fees provide annual scholarships to Hopkinton students pursuing studies in the arts, and also fund local artistic projects such as Art on the Trail, the Clootie Tree, a ceramics room for the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, and cameras for the Hopkinton High School photography program.

Mass Cultural Council funds reach every community in the commonwealth. The organization’s mission is to promote excellence, education, access and diversity in the arts, humanities and sciences, to improve the quality of life for all Massachusetts residents, and to contribute to the vitality of the state’s communities and economy.
