The Hopkinton High School boys and girls cross country teams competed against Holliston on a warm Wednesday at Hopkinton State Park.

The HHS girls lost a one-point decision, 28-29, in a battle of previously undefeated teams. Holliston senior Carmen Luisi won in 17 minutes, 58 seconds, the second-fastest time ever on the 2.9 mile course (Schuyler Gooley, Hopkinton ’20, holds the course record of 17:49). HHS junior Elyse Srodawa placed second, with senior teammate Bethel Flanagan fifth and junior Avery Sawyer sixth. Both teams will compete in their final dual meet next Wednesday before moving onto the championship season.

The boys raced to a 15-44 victory, led by senior captain Ben Scott (16:04), junior captain Stephen Leighton (16:12), sophomore Sean Finnegan (16:25), junior Cam Arnold (17:33) and sophomore Darian Leo (17:35). Now 4-0, the Hillers host Westwood next Wednesday in a battle for the Tri-Valley League Large School Division title.
