George Crisci

George Arthur Crisci, 75, of Hopkinton passed away Jan. 1 after a period of declining health.

George was the son of the late Victor E. and Agnes (Frole) Crisci. He was born in the Bronx, New York, raised in Leominster and as a young adult returned to the Bronx where he launched his career in the garment industry that led him to travels around the world, including several years in Durbin, South Africa, before creating his home on Lake Maspenock in Hopkinton with his soulmate, Julie.

George was the ultimate host, loved his family and friends deeply and was generous to all he met in his path. He truly lived every moment to the fullest, enjoying legendary pirate-themed parties, decorating his boat for the Fourth of July parade (which he won twice) and becoming an award-winning meatball maker. He especially loved hosting his family and the extensive community of friends who became like family at his lake home, where a generation of children knew him as Uncle George, with fresh popcorn, hot dogs, fishing on his docks, being entertained to music by the Rat Pack from his vintage jukebox, and his legendary storytelling.

George was very active in the community, with memberships in the Montgomery Masonic Lodge, Allepo Shrine, Woodville Rod & Gun Club and the Lake Maspenock Preservation Association.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Julie (Grebowicz), with whom he shared an amazing life full of adventure and merriment.

He was predeceased by a son, Steven M. Crisci, and a brother, Victor E. Crisci Jr.

He is survived by his stepmother, Maddalena Crisci of Florida, his son, John A. Crisci of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, his daughter, Arlene Bovee of Buford, Georgia, his four brothers, Danny and David Crisci of Leominster and Wayne and William Aho of Fitchburg, and his five sisters, Susan Doirion and Sharon Aho of Fitchburg, Nancy Samrow of Metairie, Louisiana, Virginia Elliot, who resides in Germany, and Melanie Patterson of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire. He also is survived by five grandchildren, Kyle, Kurtis and Katelynn Crisci and Danielle and Laura Bovee, many nieces, nephews, his sister-in-law, Kristine Grebowicz, and a community of friends who all will miss George dearly.

In lieu of traditional services the family encourages friends to raise a glass to George and appreciate the moments with loved ones. In late spring there will be a celebration of life party — and if you knew George, he loved a good party.
