Letter to the Editor: Mimmo for Select Board

by | May 7, 2024 | Letter to Editor

Like many residents of Hopkinton, we moved to this town with our four kids for the excellent schools. Since 2011, Hopkinton has been our home, and we enjoy the wonderful community and opportunities the town provides.

A rite of passage raising elementary-aged children is attending (and throwing) birthday parties. It is often hosted at a fine establishment, providing an afternoon of fun and games, fueled by a serving of cheese pizza and cake. It’s no Blue Square, mind you, but just enough of a carbohydrate overload to get you through the next few hours. What made one of these events particularly noteworthy was the opportunity to meet Peter Mimmo. We hit it off immediately and made it to the other side of that event, and many more since, with enjoyable conversation and connection. Peter and his wonderful family represent what we love about Hopkinton. It’s a place where folks care about their children, their environment, their schools, their businesses and their neighbors. Those who know Peter appreciate that he is the real deal, with genuine warmth and concern. He is someone who is thoughtful and respectful to the diverse needs of our residents, always willing to devote time above and beyond a busy work schedules to give back. His significant education and work history are exemplary, and given the myriad challenges Hopkinton faces, he will be a Select Board member most capable of collaborating and problem-solving with intelligence and calm.

Though we haven’t always agreed with governance decisions in our town, we appreciate the genuine interest in the well-being of our citizens and the engagement of the community. It is vital that we have thoughtful, experienced representation to the Select Board, and Peter Mimmo has our wholehearted endorsement.

Peter has both the professional experience and personal qualities we need to progress as a community, bring continued economic growth, and face the challenges ahead with kindness and pragmatism. We invite you to join us on May 20 to vote Peter Mimmo to the Hopkinton Select Board.

— Doug Medeiros and Denise Kelly, Hopkinton
