Letter to the Editor: Mimmo for Select Board

by | May 14, 2024 | Letter to Editor

I am happy to endorse Peter Mimmo for the Select Board. He is a candidate who reflects unique experience and qualities we need. Peter’s understanding of our town’s critical issues, his professional legal experience and expertise and deep-rooted commitment to public service make him the ideal candidate and the right choice for Hopkinton for this critical time. Peter is a lifelong resident of Massachusetts and an active member of our community since 2015, has demonstrated repeatedly his care and love for our community through his volunteer work, most recently in the Board of Assessors, and also possesses the experience and temperament needed to help us lead through our current challenges. His expertise in fiscal management to civil rights, Peter’s background as an attorney working for the commonwealth helped hone the skills necessary to address a variety of issues in our town, from budget to ensuring fairness in our local governance.

At a time when we need a strong commitment to fairness and accountability, upholding the values of due process and rule of law, Peter’s professional journey through labor and employment law and arbitration, and his hands-on involvement in negotiating collective bargaining agreements will be an asset to our town leadership. He supports our schools and vision for economic development to reduce tax burdens, and is committed to our town’s sustainability aspirations. Peter has a proven track record of resolving contentious disputes with respect and honesty, and his active engagement within the community prepares him to foster inclusive and productive dialogue in the Select Board.

I respectfully urge you to vote for Peter Mimmo for the Select Board on Monday, May 20.

— Shahidul Mannan, Hopkinton
