Main Street Corridor Project update: Eversource continues overhead work while waiting on transformers

by | Jun 23, 2024 | Business, News

The town on Friday provided an update on the Main Street Corridor Project.

Eversource continues to wait for the transformers to complete undergrounding of utilities, but the company has been on-site working on overhead utility line transfer work, which it states is 75-80% complete.

A public tree hearing is scheduled for July 1 by Hopkinton’s tree warden to consider the removal of a maple tree to allow Eversource to install new overhead utility lines near 7 East Main Street.

Polar Vortex will be on-site this week to begin paint removal of traffic signals, beginning at the intersection of Wood Street and Route 135. The tentative completion date is Oct. 1. Bucket containment of any debris will be done in field, and street cleaning will be done daily at the end of shift. Scheduled hours for this work will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and hours may be adjusted after the first week based on traffic flow patterns. Additional locations for repairs include the intersections of Main Street and Commonwealth Avenue, Pleasant Street, Grove Street, Church Street and Hayden Rowe Street, as well as in front of the Fire Station.

Dagle Electric will continue to be on-site to pull wire to various addresses along the corridor.

A.F. Amorello is targeting to be on-site after July 4 to work on the south side of the project. Work will include brickwork, sidewalk work, curb work, landscaping and underground utility connections from the property lines to building foundations and into buildings as required.
