The Parks & Recreation Commission engaged in an extended debate about financial aid policies during its meeting Monday night.

Robert J. “Smitty” Smith Jr., 72, a 1970 graduate of Hopkinton High School, died Oct. 4 at Mass General Hospital in Boston after a period of declining health.

Eugene Savage, 77, of Hopkinton died Oct. 3 at home surrounded by family after an illness.

HerSwap, a community-wide tag sale event for women’s clothing, accessories and books, will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m.-noon at Marathon School.

Town meetings tonight include the Conservation Commission (7).
