Hopkinton named safest city in Massachusetts for 2020

The independent review site SafeWise named Hopkinton the safest city in Massachusetts for 2020. It marks the town’s second straight year being ranked No. 1.

Last year SafeWise also ranked Hopkinton the No. 1 safest city in America. The national rankings have not yet been released for this year.

Hopkinton earned the state’s top spot by reporting a violent crime rate of 0.1 incidents per 1,000 and a property crime rate of 1.6.

Franklin, Shrewsbury, Milton and Norton round out the top five, while neighboring Holliston ranks 11.
