Flow tests for South Street, Aspen Way on Thursday could cause discoloration

by | Nov 4, 2025 | News

The Water-Sewer Department will be conducting required flow tests on two streets this Thursday which may result in water discoloration.

Water-Sewer Manager Jed Fenneuff announced in a notice to residents that a set of required fire flow tests is scheduled for South Street starting at 8:30 a.m. Those tests are expected to continue through the early afternoon.

In addition, a hydrant flow test on Aspen Way is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.

“Customers may notice some water discoloration throughout the town during and after the tests,” Fenneuff cautioned.

Residents who experience discoloration can resolve the issue by flushing the cold water pipes in their homes. Doing so allows trapped sediments to be released. The Water-Sewer Department recommends residents check their water before use.

Discolored water is safe to drink, but the town does not recommend using it for washing laundry.

For more information, visit the Water Department’s website or call 508-497-9765.
