Hopkinton man charged after alleged assault victim MedFlighted for advanced care

A Hopkinton man is being held by the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office as he awaits an arraignment in Framingham District Court for an alleged assault that took place over the weekend.

The Ashland Police Department on Friday arrested 23-year-old Jadaius Figueroa and charged him with one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of assault and battery causing serious bodily harm.

According to a press release, Ashland PD received multiple 911 calls around 2:50 p.m. on Friday reporting a medical emergency at 330 Pond Street, near Cost Cutters. An officer responded to the scene and began to render first aid to an injured person.

“Based on his training and experience, officer [Emmanuel] Toscano observed injuries consistent with possible serious head trauma,” the press release stated. The victim was MedFlighted from the scene for advanced medical care.

After witness reports provided information that the victim’s wounds were the result of an assault and provided a description of the alleged attacker, another Ashland Police officer located Figueroa minutes later farther down on Pond Street and placed him into custody.

Following a probable cause hearing on Friday, Figueroa’s bail was set at $20,000. “Due to this incident and the impact of this arrest on open cases, Figueroa is being held by the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office pending arraignment at Framingham District Court on Monday,” the press release added.
