Fun and creativity will go hand in hand this summer for youths from kindergartners to teens at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts.

The HCA Summer Fun in the Arts 2026 program includes visual arts, theater, ceramics, film, music and dance classes.

“Our eight weeks of camp that run from June 29 through August 21 encompasses hands-on programs encouraging students to explore and enjoy a variety of art forms,” said Stephanie Madden, HCA program director. She added, “Since we are a smaller program, we are able to tailor our creative classes to the interests and needs of our students.”

Students can participate in weeklong full- and half-day classes that are grouped by age.

“This summer we have different themes each week,” said Madden. “They include Magic and Science plus Pop Legends, which can appeal to a youngster’s different interests and may encourage them to sign up for another week of classes.”

A new offering this summer is the Art and Stage Exploration program.

“It offers a combination of visual and performing arts daily, so youngsters going into grades 1 through 6 will have fun exploring different topics,” said Madden. Students in the program will be grouped by age.

Also new this summer will be filmmaking instructor Evan Rivard and Intensive Dance Program teacher Desiree Mottard. A former professional ballerina, Mottard is the new dance director for the HCA. Rivard earned his BFA in film production from the Pratt Institute.

“Our instructors are professionally trained, and since we have small class numbers, give their students a lot of individual attention,” said Madden. Biographies of all instructors are available on the HCA website.

Other highlights of the 2026 summer program will be the professional Wow Wednesday performers who will entertain students once a week at lunch, and the two-week theater classes leading to presentations of “Madagascar Jr.” and “The Wizard of Oz.”

“We also make sure all our students have plenty of free time outside for their snacks and lunch break,” said Madden. “And we encourage our visual art classes to use our outdoor spaces.”
