While the Town’s Clerk Office still is finalizing ballots, unofficial results show that close to 7,000 Hopkinton residents cast their votes in the 2026 midterm elections on Tuesday.
The results show that Hopkinton residents aligned with other Massachusetts voters on key races. Residents voted to re-elect Ed Markey to the U.S. Senate over challenger John Deaton. Likewise, Gov. Maura Healey took 65% of the vote in Hopkinton versus 31.4% for Mike Minogue.
On the ballot questions, Hopkinton voters rejected Question 7, which proposed a law to allow single-family homes on lots of 5,000 square feet or more. They also voiced opposition to a question that would change the way the state calculates its tax revenue limit, as well as an effort to eliminate political party primaries in Massachusetts in favor of all-party primaries.
For some Hopkinton voters, Questions 8 and 9 were the only measures they voted on. The unofficial election results from the Town Clerk’s Office show that 292 residents only voted on these two questions. Like the rest of Massachusetts voters, residents rejected Question 8, which would have repealed the state’s marijuana laws. They also voted to keep in place gun safety legislation Gov. Maura Healey signed into law two years ago.
Town Clerk Connor Degan noted in an email Wednesday that the unofficial results are subject to change, and numbers will be updated after all ballots are included in the count.
