Jonathan DeMarco

Hopkinton’s Jonathan DeMarco recently received a 21st Century Leaders award from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The award recognizes students who have demonstrated exemplary standards of achievement, initiative and social awareness. Recipients have contributed to the university through exceptional accomplishments in research, leadership and outstanding creative and athletic talents that enhance the reputation of the campus.

DeMarco is a civil/environmental engineering major who will begin work as an environmental engineer in New York City upon graduation. He plans on studying for a master’s degree from UMass Amherst as well. DeMarco has worked as a student ambassador in the dean’s office of the College of Engineering and worked as an engineering study abroad essentials coordinator with the International Programs Office (IPO) at UMass to implement a longterm IPO program that will assist engineers to engage in study abroad. He was involved in the Engineers Without Borders chapter on campus and traveled to Kenya and Ghana to assist communities by implementing various water-related infrastructure. …

Azilee Curl received the Bruce S. Kapp Award at the University of Vermont. This award is given annually to a graduating senior in neuroscience who has conducted outstanding independent research in neuroscience, while maintaining high scholastic standards overall. …

Caroline Sullivan was named the recipient of The Senior Prize in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, awarded to the outstanding concentrator in biochemistry/molecular biology, at Hamilton College’s annual Class & Charter Day. Sullivan also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in May. She graduated summa cum laude and was the class valedictorian. She prepped at Phillips Exeter Academy.
