Abigail Gilbert, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering at WPI, was a member of a student team that recently completed an intense, hands-on research project through the WPI project center in Hong Kong. The project was titled Implementing Eco-Friendly Cutlery in Hong Kong, and the students wrote that their goal was “identifying cutlery and tableware that met the criteria of being compostable and biodegradable as well as being feasible for implementation in Hong Kong.” …

Also at WPI, junior computer science major Blake Dobay was a member of a student team that completed a project through the WPI project center in Ecuador titled Quingeo Socioeconomic Analysis. Evan Goldstein, a junior computer science major, was on a team that completed a project through the WPI project center in Eilat, Israel, titled Transportation in Eilat. And Paul Shingleton, a senior computer science major, was on a team that completed a project in California’s Silicon Valley titled Automated Policy Testing. …

Brooklyn Briner, who is studying biotechnology at MassBay Community College, was selected to participate in an experiential, lab-based program at Sanofi’s research and development laboratories in Framingham. During spring break in mid-March, Briner and seven of her classmates were given the opportunity to be “science apprentices,” learning about the techniques used to make a biologic drug at one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies. …
