Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.6 earthquake centered just off the Southeastern Massachusetts coast on Sunday morning, causing brief shaking that was felt throughout the region, reportedly as far as 100 miles away. Some people in Hopkinton reported feeling minor rumbling.

Hopkinton High School principal Evan Bishop emailed families on Sunday evening to notify them that an individual in the HHS community tested positive for COVID-19.

Hopkinton High School’s boys and girls soccer and cross country teams ended their seasons this weekend vs. Bellingham, with each team winning its finale. Click here for the roundup.

Monday is the final day for Hopkinton residents to register for this winter’s Parks & Rec in-town basketball program. Due to the pandemic, the program is being limited to Grade 3-8 boys and girls and will consist of one practice per week. There are no formal games. For more information, check the Parks & Rec website.

The Water Department announced that it will be flushing hydrants in the Pond Street area near Spring Street on Monday from about 9-10:30 a.m. Residents there are advised to avoid any use during that time. The water might be discolored for a short time after the flushing has been completed. Residents should check their water before using it and might need to flush the internal pipes to help clear the line.

The Zoning Advisory Committee meets tonight (7) and will discuss the solar overlay district issue.
