David Minkle
David H. Minkle, 83, of Hopkinton passed away on June 5, 2026, after navigating many years of a complex medical journey with remarkable strength and determination. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Henry F. and Edith (Davis) Minkle. He was the beloved husband and best friend of more than 56 years to Margaret “Pegge” Minkle.
David spent his entire career in food sales and owned his own distributorship for Pepperidge Farm bread products. In his retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at the Hopkinton Senior Center, driving seniors to their medical appointments. He loved working on his cars, especially his 1968 Chevy Nova SS, and spent countless hours working in the yard over the years. He never met a dog he didn’t like and always had treats in his pocket for his four-legged friends.
In addition to his wife, Dave is survived by his daughter, Sherri Hussar and husband Joe; his sister, Cindy Gray; and his two grandsons, Joey and Matt Hussar. He also leaves behind his brothers- and sisters-in-law, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends. He was predeceased by a beloved sister-in-law, brother-in-law and his brother, Warren Minkle, who passed away as a young child.
Dave could always be counted on to share a funny story, show off one of the dozens of dog-themed T-shirts he wore, or serve as the official taster of Pegge’s chocolate chip cookie dough. He loved talking about his grandchildren, New England sports, and the weather. As his grandchildren’s biggest fan, he rarely missed a game, whether in person or online. He treasured being a Grampa and never missed an opportunity to tell them how proud he was of them.
He enjoyed being part of Sherri and Joe’s lives and adventures. He always looked forward to their visits and the chance to catch up, share a laugh and enjoy each other’s company.
Above all, Dave’s greatest joy was the life he shared with his wife, Pegge. Their 56 years of marriage were filled with love, laughter and unwavering devotion. Whether they were taking day trips, attending car races, camping at the Cape Cod Canal or simply spending time together, he cherished every moment by her side. Through life’s joys and challenges, they remained each other’s constant source of strength, companionship and love.
Dave will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of family and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Whether he was working on a car, sharing a story, cheering on his grandchildren or spending time with Pegge, he was happiest when surrounded by those he loved.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, from 3-6 p.m. at Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Labs for Rescue, P.O.
