Jill Sarafinas
Jill E. Sarafinas, née Holman, 68, of Hopkinton passed away suddenly on Aug. 14, 2026. Born in Newton, she was the daughter of the late Carolyn (Henderson) and Charles A. Holman. She was the wife of 19 years to George Anthony Sarafinas.
Jill graduated from Hopkinton Junior-Senior High School in 1975 and went on to proudly earn her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Bentley University. After graduation, Jill lived for 19 years in New Jersey before moving to Hopkinton.
Jill was a true jack of all trades. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making blankets and custom plush dolls. One of her ambitions was to work in theater costuming, where she hoped to put her talents as a seamstress to use. Her final job was as an accountant with Randstad, where she worked for eight years before comfortably retiring. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a past matron of Myrtle Chapter No. 33 in Holliston and a 50-year member. She also was a deputy grand marshal, was a grand representative and was active with the Masonic community, raising money for the Knights Templar Eye Foundation. She loved history and enjoyed heritage festivals and visits to the American Heritage Museum and renaissance fairs. One of her favorite ways to spend an evening was watching “The Curse of Oak Island.” She rarely missed it when it was on.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Don Bolin, and her siblings, B. Scott Holman, Gail Remby and husband John, and Dean Holman and wife Rochelle.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, from 2-5 p.m. at Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton. A service from the Eastern Star will follow at 4:30 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project Just Because (projectjustbecause.org), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) or Shriners (donate.shrinerschildrens.org).
Obituaries are submissions, typically from funeral homes, that are not subject to the same level of editorial oversight as the rest of the Hopkinton Independent. Obituaries may be edited for grammatical and factual mistakes and clarifications and shortened for space considerations.
