Elaine Awiszus

Elaine P. Awiszus, 80, of Hopkinton, passed away Sept. 5. Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Rita (Moreau) and George MacLeod. She was the wife of 60 years to Ernest A. Awiszus of Hopkinton.

Ernest and Elaine had met while working at Manning, Maxwell and Moore in Watertown. Prior to her retirement in 1997, Elaine had worked for 11 years at Newton North High School as the secretary to the vice principal. She enjoyed watching her husband coach and play sports.

Besides her husband, Elaine is survived by two children, Cynthia Murphy of Taunton and Scott Awiszus and his wife, Mary, of Kennebunk, Maine; her sister-in-law, Joanne Kyte and her husband, James, of Melbourne, Florida; and three grandchildren, Tyler, Conor and Shannon. She is predeceased by her brother, Donald Macleod.

Funeral services are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral home of Holliston (ChesmoreFuneralHome.com).
