Family starts fundraiser for motorcycle crash victim

by | Aug 26, 2024 | Featured: News, News

A fundraiser has been started for the family of a man who died following a motorcycle crash in Milford this past Saturday.

Rafael Melo was 43 years old. He left behind a wife and an 11-month-old daughter.

An individual who identified himself as Melo’s brother-in-law started the GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral costs and “transfer expenses to the last goodbye” to family and friends in Brazil. As of Monday morning, donations had reached over $6,000.

According to the GoFundMe campaign, Melo was an avid motorcyclist who participated in rides around the region. While Milford Police reported Melo was a resident of Hopkinton, the fundraiser states he was vacationing with family in the area at the time of his death. He had been making plans to return home to Brazil in September.

“The moment is difficult, and we are deeply grateful for any and all help,” states the fundraising appeal.
