Frances Lunny

It is with great sadness that the family of Frances (Pirani) Lunny share her passing on May 21, at the age of 77, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. Frances will be missed by her beloved husband of 54 years, James Lunny of Yarmouth Port, their children, Lisa Wiedersheim of Hopkinton and Lauren Brennan of Westborough, their spouses, Leo Wiedershiem and Ralph Brennan, and her five grandchildren, Collin, Martin and Alfred Wiedersheim and Katie and Heather Whitney.

Frances was born on April 12, 1942, to the late Frank and Ruby Pirani of West Springfield. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Martin and William.

For 35 years Frances was a nurse at the VA Medical Center in Northampton, the last 15 working with veterans suffering with PTSD. She retired to the Cape in 2007. She enjoyed many years with the Yarmouth Garden Club and used her gardening talents to change her home into a garden that would attract people to slow down as they drove past. Frances always enjoyed a good conversation, spending time with family and friends, traveling, cards, dominos and a sunny day at the beach.

A funeral service was held May 31, at St. Pius X Church in South Yarmouth. Arrangements were under the care of the Hallett Funeral Home (hallettfuneralhome.com).

Her smile, laugh and giving personality will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frances’ name may be made explicitly to the Senior Behavioral Health Center, Attn: Eve Masiello, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, 275 Sandwich St., Plymouth MA 02360.
