HHS sports roundup: Girls basketball defeats Dedham

by | Jan 30, 2021 | Sports

Junior Kiki Fossbender scored 21 points and classmate Lauren Cho added 12 as the Hopkinton High School girls basketball team posted a 56-37 victory over visiting Dedham on Friday night in a makeup game. Hopkinton, now 4-1, originally had been scheduled to play Medfield, but that game was called off due to COVID-related concerns.

After an even first quarter, Hopkinton started the second quarter on a 14-0 run — with Cho tallying eight straight — to take control. The lead was 28-19 at the half, and 39-26 after three quarters.

The game started with a nice display of sportsmanship, as injured Hillers senior Kylie Hardenbrook — given the start on Senior Night — was allowed to score an uncontested layup before checking out of the game.
