HHS Sports Roundup: Hillers teams open postseason play with home games

The remainder of the state tournament schedules were announced Wednesday, and all Hopkinton teams earned home games for their openers.

Softball will host Dartmouth on Saturday at 4 p.m. in a Division 2 first-round game. Hopkinton comes in as the 15th seed and with a record of 14-6. Dartmouth, the 18th seed, is 11-9.

Baseball will host Reading on Saturday at 5 p.m. in a Division 2 first-round game. The Hillers (17-4) are the sixth seed, while Reading (10-10) is 27th.

Boys lacrosse (14-4), seeded 15th in Division 2, will host 18th-seeded Minnechaug (10-8) on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Girls tennis (14-5), coming off a 4-1 victory over Diman on Tuesday, was scheduled to play fifth-seeded Acton-Boxboro (10-2) on Thursday in the Division 1 tournament’s Round of 32. The Hillers are seeded 28th. UPDATE: Hopkinton lost, 4-1.

Boys tennis (16-2), which posted a 5-0 victory over Shepard Hill on Tuesday, awaits the winner of Saturday’s match between 28th-seeded Reading and fifth-seeded Marblehead. The Hillers are seeded 12th in the Division 2 tournament.

Girls golf wrapped up its season Tuesday with an appearance in the sectional tournament. Leah Hong led the way for HHS with a 93. The Hillers finished the regular season with a record of 10-4-1.

Unified track and field competed in the state meet at Natick on Tuesday. Medalists for HHS were Brody Baker, John Murray, Dylan Gedman, Connor Minogue and Chase Dickson, while the 4×100 and 4×400 relays both finished third.
