HHS Sports Roundup: Powers ends season with state record

Hopkinton High School senior Kate Powers ended her indoor track and field season by setting a state record at the USA Track & Field Youth Nationals in New York.

Competing in the weight throw, Powers recorded a distance of 52 feet, 7.75 inches.

The All-American is headed to Kentucky in the fall. …

Hopkinton’s Lydia Rudden, a junior lacrosse player at Stonehill College, was named Northeast 10 Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season. Through five games, Rudden has 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points. She has helped the Skyhawks to a 4-1 record. That includes Saturday’s 17-14 victory over Le Moyne, which is ranked No. 2 nationally in Division 2, when Rudden had three goals and two assists. …

A Hopkinton High School group raised more than $2,000 for Special Olympics Massachusetts with the Polar Plunge event, where individuals poured water over their heads as part of the fundraiser.
