In Marisa Remley’s first season leading the Hopkinton High School girls lacrosse program, the varsity only won four games. The Hillers made a leap to the tournament last season and built on that momentum this spring, matching last year’s win total well before the end of the regular season.
“We are continuing to build from last year and they are very excited about that,” Remley said. “The big goal on their minds is the mentality of ‘Let’s get 1% better,’ so I know the goal this year is to win that first playoff game.”
Heading into mid-May, Hopkinton hit the home stretch of the 2026 season with 11 victories, eight coming in the Tri-Valley League. The Hillers only returned eight players from last year’s tournament team, and Remley admitted she did not know what to expect at the start of the year with so many new faces. But she said one thing that stood out about her team was how positive the energy and attitude were from the very first tryout.
“It was a good feeling, right off the rip,” Remley said. “You never know how chemistry is going to unfold, but from the first game, we were pleasantly surprised at how well they worked together.”
One of the biggest positive signs has been how many different girls score goals for Hopkinton on a regular basis. In a game against Bellingham, 13 players found the back of the net.
“This is a group that’s just as happy to set up a teammate as they are to take the shot themselves,” Remley said.
Junior Avery Quebec is a player who epitomizes the selfless nature of the team.
“She is somebody who is a true competitor to her core,” Remley said. “She wants to be out there and involved in every play for every second she is on the field.”
During one recent game, Quebec contributed four goals, three assists, three ground balls, three caused turnovers and three draw controls.
Another junior, Taylor Interrante, reached the 100-career-goal milestone this spring. She has notched six goals in a game and has multiple contests with five tallies. Remley praised her ability to score in high-pressure situations.
Senior Abby Burke surpassed 50 career goals this year. A strong two-way player, Burke also has amassed more than 200 draw controls in her tenure.
Senior Cadyn Rosendale is a senior midfielder with more than 50 career goals and a strong transition game, and Kendall Tom has been strong on the attack in her final season before taking her game to the collegiate level at Bentley University.
A sophomore, Siya Bonala, has been a key contributor on draw controls, with Remley praising her as a “tremendous talent” in that phase of the game.
Remley is hoping the talent of her squad shines through in the final few games of the regular season and heading into the tournament. She is confident in her team’s ability to compete. In a game against Dover-Sherborn, the Hillers dug out of a 6-0 hole to pull to within a goal.
“They lost the game, but they showed themselves that they have that grit and that ability to make real time adjustments,” Remley said. “They can put themselves on a better path, and work hard until the very last buzzer.”
