Fire Department looks to fill vacant firefighter/paramedic role
The Hopkinton Fire Department is on the search for a new firefighter/paramedic to join its team.
The dual-role position replaces retiring Lieutenant Matthew Bailey, who has served the town for 23 years.
According to the job listing posted at the beginning of December, the firefighter/paramedic position “requires the ability to interact with patients, assess and treat medical emergencies, and follow treatment protocols properly documenting findings and events on medical records.”
The salary ranges between $1,236-$1,505 per week depending on qualifications, shift assignment and the collective bargaining agreement. Four 10-hour days and rotating 24-hour shifts are available.
Applicants must hold a valid CPR certification and driver’s license. Certifications in EMT-paramedic skills and advanced life support — along with graduation from an accredited firefighting I/II program — are preferred.
The HFD also is requiring applicants to relocate within 30 miles of Hopkinton 12 months after being hired.
To apply for the job, applicants must submit a letter of interest along with an employment application and resume to the town’s Human Resources Department. Applications received by Thursday receive first priority, though the listing will remain open until the position is filled.
