Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.
A team comprised of Hopkinton High School students won its opening-round match on GBH’s academic tournament, “High School Quiz Show,” with a thrilling comeback, capped by a buzzer-beating finish, and next will compete in the quarterfinals, to be aired this Saturday.
The town issued a press release Thursday afternoon asking for help in determining what led up to last Thursday’s alleged road rage incident that cost a woman her life when she was struck by a car on Hayden Rowe Street, near Cornell’s Irish Pub.
Our latest Boston Marathon features highlight runs by Kathryn Curry (raising funds for the Hopkinton Music Association), Stephen McCluskey (Hopkinton Emergency Fund), Mark Agostinelli (Hopkinton Boys Youth Lacrosse) and Jen Smith (Friends of Hopkinton). We also have a roundup of numerous other marathoners who are supporting local causes.
This week’s Baypath Adoptable Animal is 11-year-old Dexter, who has “the energy of a puppy and a heart full of love.”
The Hopkinton Freedom Team and the Hopkinton Center for the Arts will host an open mic event called “A Call for a Just World Through Poetry and Music” on Friday, April 26, from 7-9 p.m.
Residents of all towns are invited to become a Dementia Friend by attending an informational program on Thursday, May 9, at 3:30 p.m.
Town meetings today include the Select Board (2 p.m.), which will have a brief meeting to consider approving additional ballot questions for Annual Town Meeting capital projects.
