Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Hopkinton Police Chief Joseph Bennett confirmed early Friday morning that an individual was being booked for striking a person with their car Thursday night on Hayden Rowe Street. According to media reports, the victim suffered “serious, possibly life-threatening injuries” after being struck in the vicinity of Cornell’s Irish Pub.

Following a 20-minute discussion at Thursday’s meeting, the School Committee voted to name the town’s new elementary school Charleswood, paying tribute to the Charles River, which starts in the area.

As the Upper Charles Trail Committee discussed modifications to its charge Wednesday night, some members expressed displeasure about the influence of the Trails Committee over the UCTC’s direction.

The Open Space Preservation Commission voted at its meeting Thursday night to accept an open space donation as part of the Emerald Drive development on Hayden Rowe Street, just north of College Street.

The 2024 Boston Marathon is special for Rikki Lee Sabasteanski. She is running from her current hometown of Hopkinton to her former hometown of Boston, she is participating with her husband, Ross, and she is raising funds for the Hopkinton Garden Club.
