Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.
Superintendent Carol Cavanaugh emailed the schools community on Thursday to address a widely shared post on the social media platform TikTok that refers to a threat to school safety “for every school in the USA, even elementary,” on Friday.
After the mess that was 2020, we had high hopes that 2021 would be easier to navigate. And it was. Except it wasn’t. Looking for a word to describe this past year? It’s complicated.
In the year 1724, when the United States was still called the United Colonies, a nondenominational church was formed in Massachusetts. Now, nearly 300 years later, Faith Community Church has two campuses (Hopkinton and Framingham) and an online presence that reaches even farther.
This week’s Business Profile highlights new Hopkinton Shell owner Cal Karam, who was a bit worried about taking over the downtown establishment. “But, honestly, from the first week, I felt welcome,” Karam says. “There are beautiful, nice people around here. So, that gave me the strength to stick with it.”
