by | May 22, 2020 | Featured Front Page, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.

Hopkinton resident Mary Jo Ondrechen, a professor at Northeastern University, received a grant from the National Science Foundation to do research into finding a cure for COVID-19.

Resident Shova Sharma is leading an effort to provide masks to first responders.

Town water fountains are being shut down in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

In another piece on the flu pandemic of 1918, librarian Linda Connelly profiles Hopkinton’s Sullivan family, which lost three daughters to the disease in a two-week span.

The Islamic Masumeen Center in Hopkinton is holding its annual Ramadhan Interfaith Dinner tonight (9), accessible via Zoom and YouTube. Check the center’s website for details.

The Town Election remains on as scheduled for June 29. We’ve got the full list of candidates here.

Check back over the weekend or Monday morning for details on the town’s Memorial Day activities. A virtual event is being planned.

Video of the Day: Brazilian 11-year-old Gui Khury becomes the first skateboarder to do a 1080 — three full revolutions — on a vertical ramp (or so they tell me).

Music Video of the Day: Here’s Chicago with “Feeling’ Stronger Every Day.” Enjoy.
