Hopkinton Today: Monday, June 5

by | Jun 5, 2023 | Featured: Features,

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Hopkinton Wellness and Hopkinton Card & Gift have existed in some form for almost seven decades in the center of town. That’s about to change. Husband-and-wife owners Dennis Katz and Terry Anthony are planning to close the businesses at 52 Main Street — on the corner of Route 135 and Route 85 — and the building is available for rent or lease.

Speakers at the Hopkinton High School commencement ceremony on Friday night urged graduates to embrace change, cherish memories and make an impact in the world.

Leading off the HHS Sports Roundup, the Hillers boys tennis team knocked off Longmeadow on Saturday, while Sean Golembiewski won two events at the outdoor track Meet of Champions.

As part of the Main Street Corridor Project, the eastbound detour from Pleasant Street to Maple Street to Hayden Rowe Street will be used at the beginning of the week, while the eastbound detour from Grove Street to Maple Street to Hayden Rowe Street will be used later in the week.

The Open Space Preservation Commission at its hour-long hybrid meeting Thursday night thanked Alan and Jennifer Jenner for allowing the town to purchase their 40-acre parcel for open space.

Town meetings tonight include the Elementary School Building Committee (5:30), Sustainable Green Committee (6), Planning Board (7) and School Committee (7).
