by | May 9, 2022 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.

The School Committee on Thursday night rated Superintendent Carol Cavanaugh as “exemplary” in many areas of performance and noted that she exceeded expectations in achieving established goals.

At its meeting Thursday night, the Parks & Recreation Commission discussed updates regarding Town Meeting, the Fruit Street fields, the dog park, summer programming and property requests.

Discussions of military history that coincide with the date of the monthly Veterans Breakfast — in this instance, May 6 — provided a full agenda of significant topics Friday morning.

A beautiful new Welcome to Hopkinton sign, extending a warm welcome to all who visit and live in Hopkinton, has been placed on West Main Street across from Golden Pond assisted living facility in a collaborative effort led by the Hopkinton Garden Club.

The Main Street Corridor Project will continue over the next two weeks with the installation of electric manholes in front of the Town Common and east of 5 East Main Street, the town announced. For work east of 5 East Main Street, a single lane of alternating traffic will be required, including overnight.

The latest Business Profile highlights the soon-to-be-open Main Street pizzeria Blue Square Pizza, whose airy, crisp, complex with a crust that will have everyone fighting over the corners, owner Troy Sproul says.

Town meetings tonight include the Board of Health (5:30), Elementary School Building Committee (6), Zoning Advisory Committee (7), Woodville Historic District Commission (7), Veterans Celebration Committee (7), Hopkinton Youth Commission (7:30), MetroWest Commission on the Status of Women (7:30).
