Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

The Select Board at its meeting Tuesday evening voted for a proposed local option meals excise tax of 0.75% to be put on the warrant for the Nov. 18 Special Town Meeting.

Hopkinton High School’s unified basketball team celebrated its renewed status as a Special Olympics National Unified Champion School ahead of a game against Ashland on Tuesday.

This week’s Police Log features two arrests, along with reports of a stolen vehicle, an attempted breaking and entering incident and a speeding school bus.

Esther G. McKenzie (Brown), 90, of Hopkinton passed away Oct. 15. She was a 1952 graduate of Hopkinton High School.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced that the Interstate 495 southbound on-ramp from Interstate 90 will be closed overnight tonight.

The Friends of Whitehall’s fall lake and trail cleanup will be held this Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon.

Town meetings tonight include the Community Preservation Committee (7).
