by | Sep 30, 2021 | Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.

When she was a goaltender on the Hopkinton High School lacrosse team, Jaclyn Chirco was very successful at protecting the goal. As an adult, Chirco is focused on a different goal — completing the Oct. 11 Boston Marathon. Chirco will run as a fundraiser for Hopkinton Girls Youth Lacrosse.

Hopkinton’s latest COVID-19 update shows 16 active cases and includes information on the town’s drive-by booster vaccine clinic (today and Oct. 14) and the state’s decision to extend the school mask mandate.

The Conservation Commission at its Tuesday night meeting continued the hearing on the Leonard Street three-lot subdivision project because of ongoing drainage and erosion control issues, and addressed flood control problems at The Trails, Hopkinton.

At its meeting Tuesday, the Parks & Recreation Commission discussed several ongoing projects, including the repair and replacement of the Fruit Street turf fields, progress made on the dog park, the removal of Town Common trees and the development of pickleball courts.

Water-Sewer Manager Eric Carty sent out a press release Wednesday requesting that residents pick up their pet waste and avoid areas near town water supplies to ensure the safety of the drinking water supply.

This week’s edition of the Police Log includes four driving-related arrests along with reports of attempted phone scams, a mattress on the highway and an underage party.
