The Hoyt family announced Tuesday that the inaugural Dick Hoyt Yes You Can Run Together Road Race this Saturday in Hopkinton will go on despite the sudden death of Rick Hoyt on Monday.

“Although we are saddened about the recent passing of Rick Hoyt, the family believes Rick would want the race to continue to honor his father,” the family shared. “Rick was named the race director of the event and put his heart and soul into planning it over the past 5-6 months. Participating in this race is a unique opportunity to honor Dick and Rick and celebrating all their courageous and inspiring accomplishments over the past 40-plus years.”

The race starts at 10 a.m. at Marathon School, with a postrace celebration at neighboring EMC Park.
