Letter to the Editor: Trails should not be paved

by | Jun 20, 2020 | Letter to Editor

Editor’s note: This letter is in reference to the proposal to pave portions of the planned Upper Charles Trail continuation in Hopkinton.

When is a trail not a trail? When it’s a paved paradise. Let’s just massacre the whole trail concept, destroy the ecology, the atmosphere, the whole basis for existence in the first place, to get out in nature AWAY FROM tarmac and man-made environments, and back to what little undeveloped scraps we have left. Why don’t you just put in some sodium vapor street lamps, watch out, here come the snow plows, and oh heck, might as well let in cars, too, what’s the difference? The excuse for this proposed demonic desecration? “Free money” from the state! Hop on the greed highway.

— Margaret Barton, Hopkinton
