Letter to the Editor: Virtual Horribles Parade set for July 4

by | Jul 2, 2025 | Letter to Editor

Hopkinton —

You are invited to the virtual July Fourth Horribles Parade at noon. Because the Select Board chose not to provide insurance for the event as done previously, the parade will be done virtually on Hopnews.com. The theme is “Get Involved.” The organizers have received many entries already, and the parade will be bigger than last year.

Individuals, neighborhoods, businesses and organizations are invited to email photos of their signs and virtual floats to editor@hopnews.com by noon on July 3. The images and signs will be organized into a video and published at noon on July 4.

Old Horrible rules:

— Open to all

— No hate speech

— No water balloons, frozen or otherwise.

New Horrible rules:

— Organizers reserve the right to censor or not use any inappropriate submissions.

— In the subject line, please write HP: Name-of-Your-Photo (or group of photos)

— Submit entries in either .png or .jpg format

— Horizontal format is preferred but not required.

— Judges: everyone! A poll will be available when the photos are published. Voting ends on July 6 at 3 p.m.

— Ken Weismantel, Hopkinton

Editor’s note: The opinions and comments expressed in letters to the editor are those of the writers and not necessarily those of the Independent. Submissions should be no more than 400 words and must include the writer’s name and contact information for verification. Letters should be relevant and not primarily for the purpose of promoting an organization or event or thanking sponsors or volunteers. Letters may be edited by the Independent staff for space, errors or clarification, and the Independent offers no guarantee that every letter will be published. It is a shame that some people abused the event to have a political event. It turned me off it.

It is appropriate that HopNews is sponsoring it. Did the New York Post back out?

      I’ll add…..

PLEASE DO NOT: OFFEND, CONDEMN, HATE, PERSECUTE, INSULT OR LEGITIMIZE ANYONE
