Library Corner, Aug. 18 edition

Library Hours Expanded
Effective Aug. 16, the library is open for browsing Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Curbside pickup has been discontinued. Patrons are asked to go to the main floor desk to pick up requested holds.
The library will be closed Sept. 6 for Labor Day.

Study Rooms Available
Study rooms are available for limited use. Reservations can be made at picktime.com/hplib/services.

Internet Computers Available
Public internet computers are available in the library’s lower level for adults. Computers in the Teen and Children’s Department are not yet available. Computer sessions are limited to one hour.

Face Coverings Mandatory
Masks continued to be required inside the library until further notice.

Chat ’n’ Chew Book Group
Wednesday, Aug. 18, 12:30-1:30 p.m. (virtual)
Instead of assigning a book for all participants to read, each person reviews something they have read. Check the library’s website calendar for details.

Adult Take & Make
Monday, Aug. 30
Individuals ages 18 and up are invited to join the Adult Take and Make program. This month’s project is a “Tales and Tails” booklet. This class will be similar to the previous bookbinding class but will incorporate some new techniques as well as an assortment of animal stickers to fully deck out participants’ “Tale/Tail Keeper Notebook.” Check the library’s website calendar for more information and required registration.

Freedom Team Book Club
Tuesday, Aug. 31, 7-8 p.m. (Zoom)
This month’s book is “The Deep” by Rivers Solomon. Copies are available at the main floor circulation desk for pickup. Check the library’s website calendar for registration information.

Are You Ready to Relaunch Your Career?
Tuesdays, Sept. 14-Oct. 19, 10:30 a.m.-noon (Zoom)
Anyone who has taken a career break and now is looking to return or start a new career should join experienced career coach Deb Raymond for a six-week series on relaunching a career. Topics include discovering career interests, job searching and networking, creating a noticeable resume, using LinkedIn, and how to successfully navigate an interview. Participants will meet weekly with others who are on the same journey and build confidence to transition back to work. Register on the library’s website calendar.
