ADULT PROGRAMS

High Altitudes and High Stakes
Thursday, Aug. 27, 2-3 p.m.
Acclaimed author will join the Hopkinton Public Library for this virtual conversation about her brand-new Miss Marple mystery, “Murder at the Grand Alpine Hotel.”

Why the Ideas that Built America Still Matter
Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2-3 p.m.
Award-winning historian David O. Stewart will give a virtual presentation about his newest work, “The Democracy We Must Keep.” He will discuss questions explored in the book, including how America’s founders viewed democracy and how to remain true to their vision for the nation.

Writing the Nightmare: A Ship Called Sickness
Tuesday, Sept. 8, 7-8 p.m.
This virtual presentation will feature 2026 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction winner Daniel Kraus to celebrate the release of his new novel, “The Sixth Nik.”

CHILDREN’S/YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMS

My Bicentennial Summer: A True-Life Adventure
Thursday, Aug. 20, 7-8 p.m.
Author G. Neri invites readers on a virtual journey through the U.S. with his young adult book “My Bicentennial Summer.”

Drive-In Movie Showing: ‘Cars’
Saturday, Aug. 22, 2-4:30 p.m.
The Hopkinton Public Library invites children ages 2 and up for a craft and a movie with a special showing of Disney Pixar’s “Cars.” Doors open at 2 p.m. for children to decorate a cardboard box. At 2:30 p.m., they can “park” their cars to enjoy the movie. Cardboard boxes will be provided, so guests are asked to register. Refreshments will be available while supplies last. The film is rated G, with a runtime of 116 minutes.

Unplugged Coding for Kids
Monday, Aug. 24, 3-4 p.m.
Kids entering Grades 2-4 can practice coding skills through unplugged games and activities. This program is led by Hopkinton High School students through the library’s Teen-Led Programs initiative. Registration is required.

SCHEDULE UPDATES

The Library’s study rooms will be closed for maintenance from Aug. 31-Sept. 8.

The Library will be closed from Sept. 5-7 in observance of Labor Day.

The Board of Trustees will meet on Sept. 15.
