Main Street Corridor Project update: Eastbound detour via Grove Street this week

by | Oct 9, 2022 | News

As part of the Main Street Corridor Project this week, an eastbound detour from Grove Street to Maple Street to Hayden Rowe Street and back to Main Street will be in place for work in the area of the Route 135/Route 85 intersection.

Work will include the installation of street lighting foundations and conduit along with new traffic signals, grading of sidewalk areas on Grove Street and Cedar Street, completion of pavement on Grove Street (if Eversource’s work is complete), and, potentially, the installation of curbing on Cedar Street and Grove Street.

On the west side of the project, workers will continue fine grading and compacting sidewalks from Wood Street toward the Fire Station, complete driveways on West Main Street (depending on scheduling), perform concrete sidewalk work at the end of driveways (affected property owners will be notified in advance), and perform asphalt work at the end of driveways for properties that have an asphalt driveway apron (homeowners will be notified, and westbound traffic on Main Street will be detoured to Wood Street as needed).

Working hours for the Main Street Corridor Project are 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. No detours, one-lane closures or road closures are allowed from 7-9 a.m.

This schedule may change due to weather and existing conditions found while performing the planned tasks. For the most up-to-date information, visit the town’s project website at hopkintonmainstreet.com.
