Main Street Corridor Project update: Sidewalk in front of Town Hall to be excavated Tuesday

by | Oct 11, 2024 | News

The town’s latest Main Street Corridor Project update released Friday shared that A.F. Amorello & Sons, the project’s construction company, will be onsite on Tuesday to excavate the sidewalk in front of Town Hall for brick work installation.

The entrance driveway to Town Hall will be closed during this work, and the exit driveway will be two-way at that time.

There will be no work performed on Monday (Oct. 14) because of the Indigenous Peoples Day holiday.

Resetting of wall by the walkway at 35 Main Street will take place during the upcoming week, as well as the removal of a few cracked sidewalk panels.

Overhead utility line transfer work will continue on the west side of the project during the upcoming week. On the east side of the project, brick strip installation will resume.

Eversource crews will continue performing the preliminary work associated with the transformers. All 12 transformers have been installed. Shifting power lines from being overhead to underground was expected to begin in early October.

This schedule may change due to weather and existing conditions found while performing these tasks. This work may impact traffic and require lane and sidewalk closures, limiting access to driveways and entrances to businesses. Detours and alternating traffic patterns may be used as necessary.
