Local officials were among those promoting the new suicide prevention national hotline that went into effect July 16. Individuals who dial 988 at any time of the day or night will be routed to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline for free and confidential support.
The number is for those who are experiencing suicidal thoughts or struggling with emotional distress as well as those worried about someone else.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline’s trained counselors also can be reached online via 988lifeline.org.
Hopkinton Youth & Family Services also is available to assist with behavioral health resources. HYFS can be reached via the town website (hopkintonma.gov).
