William Mackin

William A. Mackin, 85, of Hopkinton passed away Dec. 30.

Born in Millinocket, Maine, he was the son of the late Harold and Frances (Oliver) Mackin and husband of June (Baker) Mackin. Bill had a long career as an appliance repair technician before becoming an instructor of appliance repair at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School and Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School.

Mr. Mackin served his country honorably with the Navy as a boiler technician in the Pacific during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children: David Mackin and his wife, Marcia, of Upton; Paula Langdon of Virginia Beach, Virginia; William Mackin Jr. and his wife, Anne, of Moyock, North Carolina; Mark Mackin and his wife, Lisetta, of Litchfield, New Hampshire; Pam Neild and her husband, Chuck, of Litchfield, New Hampshire; and Scott Mackin of Hopkinton, along with 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 5 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hopkinton. Arrangements were under the care of Matarese Funeral Home in Ashland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hopkinton Senior Center, 28 Mayhew St., Hopkinton, MA 01748.
