May was a busy month at the Senior Center. Thanks in large part to the greenhouse volunteers, the annual plant and book sale on May 17-18 was a smashing success, as more than 100 visitors attended and viewed a wide selection of gardening books, cookbooks, vegetables, flowers and more. There were some flowers and plants left over, so those interested in expanding their garden should contact the Senior Center (508-497-9730). The Senior Center’s garden is flourishing, and participants soon will enjoy the fresh crops during the center’s lunch program.
The fifth annual art show took place from May 21-28. Artists and artisans had the chance to display artwork in the lobby and main hallway.
On May 23 the Happy Hillers Club — a group of Hopkinton High School students whose mission is to spread kindness and happiness — paid a visit for the Senior Center’s ice cream social and brought smiles to many faces. The students danced with seniors and performed a waltz choreographed by Karen Renaud, the school’s Wellness Department subject matter leader. Music was provided by the Holliston Band.
